As a geeky introvert who has made a grand effort to create a geeky safe space to call home, it’s hard to have people I don’t know over. It’s like allowing the unknown into my home. Who are you? What do you like? What if you hate everything I love? Now you’re in my space and we’re both uncomfortable.

I’ve spent so much of my life trying to fit in and not really being myself that I have completely lost interest in all pretense. So whenever someone wants to come over who doesn’t understand the way of the geek I get a bit of anxiety at having to entertain in my safe space while not completely being myself.

Does anyone feel the same way? How do you entertain when you don’t know someone in your party?

Video Games Created by Women for Everyone | Steam’s Women’s Day Sale

Let's spread the geekiness!

Hello, March! I know, I can’t believe it, either; but here we are – another month gone. We have always celebrated women during March – the 8th, specifically, is International Women’s Day. But one thing this geek looks forward to each year is the Women’s Day Sale on Steam! I love browsing through the list of video games created by women and I always hope to find at least one new obsession.

The Women’s Day Sale on Steam

This week, we are celebrating the awesomeness that is video games. I mean, I celebrate video games every week! But during Women’s month, many of us are supporting video games created by women, and women-led teams, as well as other gender-marginalized developers. Why is this important? Because taking time to recognize creators from all walks of life helps us to recognize that this world is full of stories and points of view that are not always like our own. It widens our perspectives. And it helps to bring attention to the work of those who may not have a platform, otherwise. Simply put, it gives everyone a chance to shine.

Steam started the party with a livestream that highlighted many games that you can wishlist, demo, and purchase right on their platform. Hosted by Games with Wings, the first livestream aired March 3rd, and gave us many, many new games to try. Whether you celebrate Women’s Day or not, this list should give you plenty of games to try for a few months to come. And on sale!

*I am not a Steam affiliate, or associated with any of these gaming studios. I am simply a cozy chaotic gamer who wants to share as many cool games as possible with you!

The Women’s Day Sale at Steam runs until March 9 and will feature both discounted games, and demos of upcoming games for you to try. So if you missed the first stream, there will be two more showcases to help you discover new games. And you can still watch the first stream (Games with Wings) on IGN’s YouTube channel. The next showcases are:

  • Dames 4 Games Showcase
    Wednesday, March 5 | 12 pm PT | 3 pm ET
  • Women-led Games Showcase (IGN)
    Thursday, March 6 | 4 pm PT | 7 pm ET

The games you will be able to find featured on Steam during this sale are games made by teams that are led by women and/or gender marginalized developers; and if already released, games with a positive review score on Steam.

Because I love lists, and sharing, and blogging – here is a comprehensive list of all the games featured on the Games with Wings stream.  There are definitely some on this list I can’t wait to try! There are also some that aren’t my cup of tea, but may be yours!

You can click the game title to go to the developer’s webpage, if there is one available. And, of course, you can hop onto Steam to purchase, try, or wishlist a game for later! A note: this sale is not being featured on their front page, for whatever reason, so use this link to go straight to the Women’s Day sale page.
