About This Geek Life

About Page Image for This Geek Life Blog

There’s a certain kind of joy that comes from loving something deeply.

The kind that shows up in quiet moments—revisiting a favorite story, creating something with your hands, or surrounding yourself with small things that feel meaningful in a way only you fully understand.

For a long time, that kind of joy didn’t always feel like something we were allowed to carry with us into adulthood.

This Geek Life is a space for living differently.

Not louder. Not more performative.

But more intentional. More comfortable. More aligned with the things you love.

It’s about integrating your interests into your everyday life—through creativity, self-care, and the spaces you create around you.

Living your geek life isn’t about how much you know, how much you collect, or how visibly you express what you love.

It’s about allowing those things to exist in your life in a way that feels natural and meaningful to you.

Sometimes that looks like bold expression.
Sometimes it’s quiet, subtle, and deeply personal.

Both are valid. Both belong here.

I’m Fern—an artist, gamer, and writer, with a deep love for the stories and worlds that have stayed with me over time.

This Geek Life grew out of my own journey of learning how to carry those things with me into adulthood in a way that felt natural… and true to who I am.

For a long time, it felt like there was an expectation to outgrow the things I loved. To leave certain interests behind in order to be taken seriously or to fit into a more “grown-up” version of life.

But over time, I realized something quieter and far more meaningful: I didn’t need to outgrow my geekiness—I just needed to evolve the way I lived it.

Now, I see those interests not as something separate from everyday life, but as something that can be woven into it—through creativity, personal style, the spaces we create, and the small, intentional choices that make life feel more like our own.

This space is a reflection of that belief. A place where creativity, comfort, and the things we love are not only welcomed—but valued.

You won’t always see my face here—and that’s intentional.

Not because I’m hiding, but because this space was never meant to center on appearance.

It’s about something more shared than that—the comfort of familiar stories, the joy of creating, and the quiet excitement of surrounding yourself with things that feel meaningful in your own way.

This Geek Life is meant to feel inclusive, expansive, and open. A space where you can explore what you love without feeling like you have to present yourself in a certain way to belong.

You’re welcome here—exactly as you are.
